The School of Dental Medicine has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Instrument Sterilization Technician – Trainee position.

Nature of Work:

The Sterilization/Distribution Unit within the School of Dental Medicine provides direct support to the clinical operations. The Unit has responsibility for ensuring the sterilization and appropriate distribution of dental instruments and machines for all student and faculty clinics.

Job Responsibilities:

The Instrument Sterilization Technician - Trainee provides entry-level support in the sterilization of instruments and equipment under the direct supervision of the unit supervisor.

Instrument and Equipment Sterilization – 100% (Essential Function)

This position has responsibility for the cleaning and decontamination of all instruments and equipment according to established procedures and techniques; ensuring proper functioning of equipment and cleaning the sanitizing machines and equipment and maintaining a level of sterilized instruments for distribution.

In addition to the sterile processing duties, this position will inventory cassettes and instruments and disburse the sterile reusable instruments to the operatories and clinical units, provide oversight of the collection of used and disbursed instruments to begin the sterilization process and prepares specialized instruments set-ups for undergraduate students, residents and faculty to be used during dental patient treatment.

Other Duties – (Non-essential Function)

On occasion, this position may be assigned other duties needed to help drive to the vision, fulfill the mission, and uphold the organizational values of CU Denver/Anschutz and the SDM.

Decision Scope:
  • Tasks associated with this position are very structured in nature for training and gaining the appropriate experience to move to the next classification. Tasks are performed under direct supervision and with detailed instruction.
  • Position may be challenged with learning terminology or process – guidance is given by the immediate supervisor and/or lead support positions, as well as enrollment in a training program.
Communications:

Interaction with sterilization staff and supervisor on a daily basis to meet the demands of clinical and educational operations.

Working Schedules
  • Position may be assigned weekend and/or evening shifts
  • Position may be assigned a 4/10 work week schedule
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $31,200 to $32,240.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
