Position Highlights

The department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Arizona is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML) Lab, under the direction of Dr. Bo Liu.

The team is a collaborative partnership between nine Universities across the US led by the University of Arizona working in the area of reinforcement learning, multi-agent systems, neuro-symbolic AI, and trustworthy intelligence.

We invite qualified candidates to join our group and participate in cutting-edge research related to these topics.

This is a year-to-year appointment, contingent upon funding and performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in deep reinforcement learning, multi-agent systems, trustworthy AI, explainable/safe SI, neuro-symbolic/neuro-symbolic AI, and intelligent autonomous driving.
  • Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in AI-related research projects.
  • Participate in grant writing and proposal development to support ongoing and future research initiatives.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in scientific or engineering field related to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. 
  • Knowledge in control theory and applications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Applied Math, or a closely related field of study. 
  • Selected candidate must have PhD. conferred upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Effective writing experience for publication of articles in scientific research journals.
