Job Description:

Teach, mentor, and shape the next generation of counsellors in BC.

At City University's BC Master of Counselling program (Vancouver), we bring together rigorous clinical training, meaningful scholarship, and a deep commitment to social justice, cultural humility, and ethical practice to prepare highly skilled counsellors for our communities. Our flexible program is designed for adult learners who are working, with three formats: in-person classes on Thurs-Fri, in-person classes on Saturdays, and a mixed-mode option that combines online learning with short residencies. Students choose CityU because they want to learn from practitioners who are actively engaged in the field?and who care deeply about mentorship and student success.

Our faculty are experienced clinicians who enjoy the relational side of 四虎影视: building strong learning communities, supporting emerging counsellors, and modelling reflective, ethical practice. Graduates of the program are eligible for registration with BCACC and CCPA, and our faculty play a key role in helping students reach that goal.

Position Overview

City University in Canada is inviting applications for several Associate Faculty (sessional) positions in the Master of Counselling program. This is an excellent opportunity for practising clinicians who want to bring their real-world experience into the classroom, contribute to the counselling profession in BC, and teach in a supportive, learner-centred environment.

We are currently seeking instructors to teach in the following courses/areas:

  • Addictions
  • Sexuality
  • Couples counselling
  • Research methods (Doctorate required)
  • Capstone supervision

These courses are offered several times a year. Schedules are negotiated quarterly or annually.

What You'll Do:

  • Teach engaging, graduate-level courses assigned by the Program Director (PD).
  • Design inclusive learning experiences that invite student participation, reflection, skill development, and critical thinking.
  • Evaluate student performance via a learning management system (Brightspace) in a fair and transparent manner and provide timely, constructive feedback that supports their professional growth.
  • Incorporate innovative and culturally responsive 四虎影视 methods, including technology-enhanced and mixed-mode approaches, to deepen student learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and update course curricula and 四虎影视 materials as needed, ensuring alignment with professional standards and program outcomes.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and course-focused and community-of-practice conversations, and consult with the Program Director or designate about student progress, performance, and/or conduct when appropriate.

Requirements:

What You Bring:

We are looking for clinicians and educators who are passionate about both counselling practice and 四虎影视, and who are excited to support diverse learners. The ideal candidates will have:  

  • A Master's degree, doctorate or PhD in Counselling Psychology, Counsellor Education, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or a closely related field from a recognized program accredited by CCPA, CPA, BCACC, BCCSW, or equivalent.
  • Registration (or eligibility for registration) in a relevant professional association (e.g., CCPA, BCACC, BCCSW).
  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience working with individuals, families, and/or groups in community, clinical, or educational settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to create a supportive and respectful learning climate.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both counselling and 四虎影视, including respect for and integration of the First Peoples' Principles of Learning.
  • Post-secondary 四虎影视 experience is an asset; however, we also welcome applications from skilled clinicians who are newer to 四虎影视 and eager to learn.

Salary:

Salary is based on the course level, faculty registration and experience, and the number of course credits (1-5).
