Summary of Position



Red Rocks Community College is seeking part-time Med/Surg Instructors to join our dynamic academic team. In this role, instructors will be responsible for training nursing students in practical skills, supervising students in the clinical setting, supervising patient care, evaluating performance , and fostering clinical thinking in the clinical setting, all while ensuring curriculum and skills in nursing, both on-campus and at healthcare facilities, in alignment with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Colorado Community College System.

Part-time Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise. They report to the department chair within the discipline and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include clinical instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery is face-to-face, and clinical rotations may be held days, evenings, nights and/or weekends.
  
  This position reports to the department chair within the discipline and does not supervise other employees. Occasional meetings or trainings may also be scheduled outside of regular work hours. The finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace.

The role may require up to 28 hours per week for a duration of up to 9 months, depending on departmental need and budget. The finalist must designate Colorado as their primary work location, including for any online instruction.

The compensation for this position is $54.84 - $61.50 hourly, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt temporary staff position.  This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

Qualifications



Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Ability to give and receive oral and written instructions and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach students using traditional and alternative methods of instruction
  • Ability to occasionally move, position, and transport laboratory equipment. Clinical assignments may require the ability to lift and/or move patients
  • Ability to work from campus (primarily the Arvada campus with occasional hours at the Lakewood campus).   
Required Qualifications
  • An active, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Colorado.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from a nursing education program with national nursing accreditation
  • Two years of full-time or equivalent professional nursing practice
  • One year of clinical experience relevant to the areas of responsibility
  • Current AHA-BLS CPR card.
  • Experience 四虎影视 and/or training in various subjects within the Nursing discipline.
  • Has, or qualifies for, postsecondary CTE credential including 4000 paid non-四虎影视 occupational hours within the last 5 years*
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset regarding professional development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Clinical Scholar (via Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence).
  • Master's Degree Nursing
  • Experience in facilitating equitable outcomes for customers, key stakeholders, or students using effective inclusive strategies.
  • Demonstrate building successful professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external constituents and outside agencies.
  • Participate and/or lead in professional organizations, committees and/or taskforces.
  • Experience with remote and/or online 四虎影视/training and experience developing courses for multiple delivery formats.
  • Ability to develop well-defined assessment/evaluation objectives and high-performance standards aligned with expectations.
  • Demonstrated commitment working with and supporting students from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, historically marginalized communities (people of color, LGBTQ+ community members, veterans, first generation graduates, people with disabilities, etc.).
Physical & Cognitive Demands:

  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills
  • Constantly uses a computer and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports equipment, supplies and/or people weighing up to 150 lbs.
