Position Highlights

The Vocational Specialist is responsible for implementing pre-employment transition services for students with disabilities enrolled in the summer work program. The candidate will work with local schools, rehabilitation counselors, employers, and families to identify summer jobs, provide training and support for workers, coordinate logistics and services, communicate with family members, and summarize performance data. This position is temporary for 18 hours a week beginning May 26th and ending August 7th, 2026.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively and maintain regular communication with school and vocational rehabilitation personnel.
  • Provide direct services and individualized instruction and support for youth ages 14 to 22 at community businesses.
  • Collect data and success stories, create summer work based learning resumes, and summarize performance.
  • Develop business relationships, arrange logistics for summer work, communicate with employers, and obtain satisfaction evaluations.
  • Engage families, keep them informed of work activities, provide weekly updates, and respond to questions and concerns.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
