Work Schedule: 7:30am - 4:00pm. Monday-Friday. May require weekend shifts and required overtime work, scheduled in advance. Considered essential and may be required to work during university closures

Job Description

*

Responsible for supervising a group of housekeeping workers and performing a variety of housekeeping tasks. Exercises some discretion while following established standards.

Representative Duties:

  • Directs and inspects work of housekeeping employees.
  • Supervises housekeeping crews on special jobs such as waxing floors and window washing.
  • Provides procedure orientation and training for new housekeeping employees.
  • Performs housekeeping tasks in addition to performing minor maintenance and repairs on floor care equipment.
  • Contacts with others are of a routine nature
  • Relieves housekeepers as needed.
  • Ensures that personnel supervised are informed of and adhere to health and safety practices associated with assigned tasks.
  • Will complete clerical duties to include payroll, time and attendance reviews.
  • Will complete essential human resources tasks to include interviewing, training, positive discipline, completing OJI paperwork and performance reviews.
  • Will serve in an on-call duty rotation. Will require weekend shifts and required overtime work, scheduled in advance.
  • May be designated as an " essential position" during emergency closures. May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

Required: High school diploma or GED; AND:

  • 18 months housekeeping or custodial experience, including 6 months supervisory.

Certifications or Licenses:

  • Valid Driver's License

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English
  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
  • Uses tools or equipment in a manner requiring competence derived from previous training

Physical Working Conditions:
Lifting and carrying loads up to 100 lbs. Prolonged standing and walking. Excessive use of arms in a back and forth motion. Excessive stooping and bending.

Environmental Working Conditions:
Exposure to odors and to disagreeable tasks or conditions. Exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to stressful situations. May require some weekend and/or overtime work. May be designated as an 驴essential position驴 during emergency closures. May be required to remain on campus overnight during, weather or other emergencies.
