Job Summary:
Incumbent will be responsible for ensuring continuous availability of the University of Nebraska servers, operating systems, and middleware. Including the design, implementation, and management of systems and associated management solutions. Monitor, analyze, and ensure system performance, capacity, and uptime meet university service level agreements within a 24x7 operation. Troubleshoot complex problems, individually, with other members of the team, and with third-parties. Requires regular interaction with other networking, systems, and telecom professionals in the design and delivery of services; and with end-users to provide direct support.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in IT related field

3 years linux server installation, configuration and troubleshooting

Equivalent combination of education, experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

The ideal candidate is an agile professional with strong interpersonal communication skills, flexibility and responsiveness; exhibits high ethical standards; proficient in managing time and competing priorities; responsive and committed to supporting staff; committed to the ideals of a major public research university.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting linux server environment

Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting linux applications

Knowledge of shell and python scripting

Working knowledge and experience with linux automation and central management tools

Working knowledge and experience with aws or azure

This position is not eligible for an alternative worksite arrangement and is categorized as on-site. Once a candidate is hired into this role, hybrid work arrangements (defined by NU ITS as a minimum of three days per week on one or more NU campus and up to two days per week remote) may be available for candidates who successfully meet minimum performance criteria during the initial probationary employment period. Regular, ongoing presence on all NU campuses is required and will need to be prioritized.
