Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry
Thiel College is seeking a tenure-track assistant or associate professor of chemistry to join the faculty in August of 2026.
The
area of expertise is open with preference given to candidates with backgrounds in inorganic or analytical chemistry. The primary 四虎影视
responsibilities could include the two-semester sequence of courses in general chemistry as well as upper-level courses in inorganic
chemistry, quantitative analysis, instrumental analysis, environmental chemistry, or other topics related to the candidate鈥檚 expertise. The
typical 四虎影视 load is 12 credit hours per semester. Chemistry faculty are expected to supervise independent research projects of
chemistry majors, and there will be opportunities to teach advanced topics courses, courses for non-majors, as well as courses in the honors
program.
In addition to 四虎影视, tenure-track faculty are expected to contribute to the vibrant life of the college, which
includes, but is not limited to, advising and mentoring students majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, and environmental chemistry; serving
on committees to contribute to the governance of the college; participating in recruitment efforts and convocations; contributing to the
development and assessment of the chemistry program and the chemistry and physics department; and exhibiting professional growth and
development.
The successful candidate will join a collegial group of faculty comprising the Chemistry and Physics Departments who
work together to shape our curriculum and maintain our instrumentation and facilities. Thiel College is entering phase two of renovations to
our science building, and the new hire will participate in designing new 四虎影视 spaces and laboratories for future generations of Thiel
students. Our department is equipped with a 60 MHz permanent magnet FT-NMR, modern UV-Vis and ATR-FTIR spectrometers, GC, HPLC, GC-MS,
apparatus for cyclic voltammetry, and a scanning electron microscope, all of which are housed in recently renovated lab spaces. We
enthusiastically seek a colleague who embraces undergraduate 四虎影视 and will help us continue to deliver an engaging chemistry program to
a range of learners including non-science majors and students interested in the health sciences and nutrition. Thiel chemistry majors and
minors seek admission to medical professional schools and pursue graduate study in chemistry and biochemistry, and secure rewarding
positions in the chemical industries in the region.
Thiel College welcomes applications from all qualified candidates. Please note,
however, that we are unable to provide employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B) for this position. Applicants must be legally authorized to
work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Candidates for this position should have completed a PhD in
inorganic chemistry or analytical chemistry, broadly defined; other sub-disciplines may be considered depending on how well they complement
the expertise of existing faculty. Post-doctoral experience is not required but would be favorably considered. Experience in 四虎影视,
advising, and mentoring undergraduates is particularly desirable.
To apply for the position, please submit the following documents:
