Assistant Director of Global Admissions, Selection

Schwarzman Scholars seeks a results-driven, visionary and strategic
leader to oversee the strategic planning, implementation, management and evaluation of our U.S./Global selection process as we navigate our
second decade. They report directly to the Director of Global Admissions and are part of the U.S./Global Admissions Team that is
headquartered in New York.

About The Organization:

Founded in 2013 through a partnership between Stephen A.
Schwarzman and Tsinghua University, Schwarzman Scholars is a fully funded, one-year master鈥檚 degree program in global affairs designed to
prepare the next generation of global leaders. The program offers a dynamic curriculum grounded in the pillars of China, leadership, and
global affairs, with learning opportunities in and beyond the classroom, including leadership training, senior mentors, high-level
interactions with Chinese leaders and visiting speakers, career development guidance, and Deep Dive trips across China. Each year, 150
Scholars from a wide range of geographies, industries, and academic backgrounds are selected from a highly competitive global applicant pool
(approximately 5% admit rate).

Job Requirements

Principal Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Serve on the leadership team of the Schwarzman Scholars Admissions with direct report to the Director of Global Admissions.
  • Primary admissions team lead for the Schwarzman Scholars selection process from January to December annually.
  • Serve as lead
    admissions point-of-contact for all selection-related activities.
  • Provide strategic leadership alongside the Director of Global
    Admissions and program leadership to design and implement a data-driven selection strategy that will define the next chapter of our
    selection process.
  • Lead the application process, including providing expertise on educational systems and credentials as part of
    the technical review of incoming applications; train and lead efforts to respond to applicant queries throughout the application process.
  • Strategically manage the Operations unit of the Admissions Team and its strategic management of our admissions CRM and database
    system, Slate by Technolutions
  • Utilize online application, Slate CRM system, and other platforms to provide frequent data and
    activity reporting on the outreach and selection activities.
  • Oversee design and development of various project components,
    including: application and selection management; communications; and data capture and reporting to ensure our selection process operates
    effectively, efficiently, and with cutting-edge excellence.
  • Manage the drafting of up-to-date training materials for external
    selection support during application reading and for interview panelists.
  • Coordinate admissions team selection activities as they
    relate to applicants and selection panelists, arranging for travel, lodging, and meeting space for candidate interviews; overseeing on-site
    staffing and facilitation for interviews, in coordination with our events partner.
  • Lead efforts to keep our selection process
    cutting-edge, including adoption of new admissions technologies, data-driven practices, and compliance best practices.
  • Travel and
    participate in program events (domestic or international) as assigned
  • Performs other related duties and functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in related field or
    equivalent. Master's degree in higher education administration, international education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7
    years of work experience directly related to university admissions, selection process leadership, enrollment management and/or
    administration of fellowship/scholarship programs. CRM experience with Slate by Technolutions strongly preferred.
  • Effectiveness
    and experience managing competitive, holistic selection processes: demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful selection
    strategies and initiatives; capacity to build an appropriate and effective election plan that reflects institutional goals; a desire to
    innovative and create new approaches to selection.
  • Strong analytical capacity and outcome reporting experience with a
    demonstrated ability to adapt strategy based on results and leverage data to show progress toward admissions goals.
  • Superior
    strategic planning, organizational, evaluation and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to manage and execute multiple priorities and
    deadlines across diverse cross-functional teams with keen attention to detail.
  • Global mindset and cultural sensitivity with
    demonstrated success navigating complex, multicultural environments with members and volunteers located in myriad regions across the world.
  • Strong knowledge of the higher education landscape and prestigious graduate fellowship opportunities
  • Sophisticated
    interpersonal skills, including discretion, empathy, and judgment, and able to navigate sensitive or high-profile situations with
    professionalism.
  • Capacity to work with alumni, board, staff, university leadership, consultants, and volunteers in a dynamic,
    results-oriented manner.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrate initiative, think creatively, and
    facilitate problem-solving with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where
    multi-tasking and competing priorities is the norm. Demonstrated adaptability in dealing with changing and/or uncertain circumstances as
    well as condensed timeframes. Exposure to start-up environments preferred. Strong adaptability and decisiveness.
  • Proficiency with
    MS office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Slate, Box and Zoom
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative
    organizational practices.
  • International experience highly desirable. Knowledge and experience working on China-related issues,
    including Chinese language skills, a plus.
