Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership and goal setting.
    • Establishes and oversees admissions enrollment objectives.
    • Stays informed on best practices and current issues in student recruitment and admissions.
    • Designs, executes, and assesses comprehensive recruitment strategies and initiatives to meet enrollment objectives.
    • Oversees the development, administration, coordination, and evaluation of undergraduate admissions programs for both domestic and international applicants.
  • Gathers and reports data.
    • Conducts research and analysis of student population trends and market shares and shares reports.
    • Ensures accuracy and integrity of all admissions decisions and student records.
  • Manages operations.
    • Oversees and manages the review, development, and implementation of policies, procedures, and technology solutions to ensure timely, accurate, efficient, and innovative delivery of domestic and international admissions.
    • Supervises and conducts the analysis of the qualifications of applicants and facilitates background review.
    • Coordinates and oversees international student immigration documentation processing, advisement, monitoring, and governmental reporting duties through related systems.
    • Works closely with the University Office of International Services regarding campus international student admissions and services.
    • Works in close partnership with university-wide enrollment shared services.
  • Facilitates collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
    • Ensures effective collaboration and clear communication with domestic feeder schools and colleges, prospective students and their families, as well as community, campus, and university stakeholders.
    • Works in close collaboration with stakeholders, including the campus Strategic Enrollment Management team, Student Services, and academic units.
    • Works with the Office of Communication and Marketing to create and share materials that attract and inform prospective students, parents, and stakeholders, and oversees the admissions online presence.
    • Provides training and support to academic program directors on admissions processing.
    • Coordinates graduate admission activities with academic units and other stakeholders.
  • Provides office management.
    • Plans, directs, manages, and coordinates all office activities.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities

  • Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define admissions and recruitment methodologies and standards.
  • Provides direction and guidance on high priority admissions and recruitment projects/initiatives.
  • Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing project timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multi-phase admissions and recruitment initiatives.
  • Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal.
  • Manages high level assignments and allocation of admissions and recruitment resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involve staff in other departments/areas/teams; may coordinate large-scale admissions and recruitment projects with a wide audiences in support of academic initiatives.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment.
  • Researches and stays up-to-date on new industry admissions and recruitment standards, technologies, policies, and procedures; responsible for the implementation of new protocols/procedures to address business needs.
  • Works collaboratively with other admissions and recruitment leaders across departments in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures.
  • Prepares management reports and summaries for senior administration, executive, steering and advisory committees.
  • Acts as advisor to executive committees; serves on various university committees, communities of practice, and task forces related to admissions and recruitment.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business, public policy, or a related field.

Preferred

  • Masters degree in business administration, higher education administration, education leadership, public administration, public policy, or a related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 4 years in admissions, enrollment management, higher education student affairs, business, or a related field.
  • 1 year of management experience in a relevant field.

Preferred

  • 5 years of career progression in admissions, with increasing responsibilities.
  • 2 years of management (including supervisory) experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience with international student services and advising.

  • Demonstrates experience in data analysis and reporting (collecting, aggregating, disaggregating, analyzing, and reporting of admissions-related data).
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and software, including computers and databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and other related software systems/applications.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
