Process incoming mail and packages and perform related processes in accordance with University procedures. Understand and effectively operate package tracking system, package locker system, and HD mail system. Serve as administrator to effectively maintain accurate data within package tracking and locker software. Maintain knowledge of and follow parcel and mail handling procedures in accordance with departmental processes. Ensure 100% chain of custody as related to package handling. Some nights and weekend work as workload dictates. Work within budget to schedule staff. Safely operate University vans and box trucks as required by PA State driving laws.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and packages including sorting and scanning mail and packages for resident students. Oversee all mail operations in Cabrini Mail Center including creating a cohesive process with Main campus mail operations. Maintain knowledge of departmental and industry operating procedures as it relates to processing student mail and packages.
  • Operate and understand functionality of tracking system and package locker system to effectively facilitate package processing. Work with internal and external vendors to assure
  • locker functionality. Set up and maintain HD mail system. Maintain knowledge of all campus mail routes to serve as backup to other route drivers.
  • Serve in technology role as it pertains to University systems integration and tracking software, and locker system. Build assurances of data integrity to assure proper sorting and forwarding of mail. Work in Main campus mailroom as needed during non-peak periods. Facilitate training of new hires. Assist with helping students utilize locker and mail system.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Specific Job Knowledge: (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area) Knowledge of package and mail handling procedures and processes. Knowledge of mail and package forwarding rules and process. Knowledge of package tracking software and ability to understand data integration and related processes.
  • Minimum Work Experience: (type and number of years) 2-5 years mail and package handling. Proven computer skills with the ability to function in a technical environment.
  • Work Skills: (e.g., written and verbal communication skills) Must be organized and detail with good customer service skills and a positive, friendly approach and demeanor. Must be able to accept and complete directives effectively in a timely fashion. Must be able to take and follow direction on specific tasks and provide assurances of work performed by direct reports.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Computer skills and ability to comprehend and facilitate computer programs related to package tracking software system and related hardware including hand scanners, printers, and locker kiosks. Ability to troubleshoot locker system and provide customer level break/fix repairs.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours

Physical requirements: (items such as lifting, pushing, pulling, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, manual dexterity, walking etc.) Walking while carrying mail and packages, pushing hand truck and postal hampers with packages. Extended periods of standing. Ability to lift and maneuver 70lbs.

Salary Posting Information

This position falls within hourly grade 11 and the range is $24.84-27.58/hr. The final salary will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate's qualifications, department budget availability, market data, and internal equity.
