Description

MEDEX Northwest is the Physician Assistant
(PA) Program at the University of Washington (UW) and is a section of the Department of Family Medicine in the School of Medicine. MEDEX has
five campuses located at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA; the University of Alaska in Anchorage, AK; Kona, Hawaii; UW Seattle, and UW
Tacoma.

This position/appointment is based in the Anchorage, AK campus.

Position FTE: 0.6 - 0.8

The base salary
range for this position will be $8334-$10834 @ 1.0 FTE per month ($100,008-$130,008 annually @ 1.0 FTE) commensurate with experience and
qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Position
Overview:

Primary responsibilities include classroom and online ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ, curriculum development, co-chairing/coordinating
at least one course, and advising and evaluating students. The lecturer functions as the program’s ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ faculty at each MEDEX campus and
throughout the WWAMI area. The lecturer is an experienced PA faculty member who is broadly responsible for instructing PA students in the
classroom. The Lecturer is a lecturer position and is a 12-month, non-tenure track appointment.

Additional duties of Lecturers
include lecturing, proctoring didactic activities, participation in the recruitment and the admissions process, ensuring compliance with
ARC-PA Standards, in addition to other duties assigned by the Associate Program Director (APD) for Academic Affairs and/or the Program
Director. The Lecturer must be available for participation in administrative and academic committees and meetings, University of Washington
School of Medicine and Department of Family Medicine meetings, as well as various retreats and projects at the University of Washington
campus in Seattle and other MEDEX or WWAMI training sites.

Supervision:

This position reports directly to
the MEDEX Program Director and will also have accountability to the Associate Program Director (APD) for Academic Affairs.

Job Responsibilities:

Didactic Responsibilities

  • Develop syllabi, lectures,
    exams, and student assessment instruments
  • Delivers course instruction including lecturing and facilitation of other
    learning activities including facilitation of small group discussion, workshops, and simulation training throughout the didactic phase.
  • Co-chairing at least one course
  • Academic advising of students
  • Assessing
    student competencies
  • Working professionally and collaboratively with other faculty members, medical director, staff and
    instructional faculty
  • Developing and nurturing clinical sites and preceptors 
  • Admissions
    activities, application review,
  • Programmatic activities: scholarly activity, committees, as well as other duties as
    assigned
  • Demonstration of a culturally competent approach to the unique disparities of healthcare access and delivery.

Student Support, Evaluation, and Progress

  • Functions as a professional role model for students
    in all phases of the program.
  • Proctors student skills assessments and grades course assignments in a timely fashion as
    needed. Assist with evaluating student progress and clinical competency, ensuring achievement of essential practice skills for each
    rotation.
  • Create written, audiovisual, and computer-based ËÄ»¢Ó°ÊÓ materials.
  • Provide student
    advising, meet with students on professional development, and implement retention strategies (tutoring, counseling).
  • Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate on the planning and scheduling of student
    orientation, Mid-year Exam Week, and Final Exam Week.
  • Review all student evaluations in a timely manner and address any
    issues raised by the student or preceptor.

Program Management

  • Working professionally and
    collaboratively with other faculty members, medical director, staff and instructional faculty
  • Represent the program on
    committees and projects focused on clinical education, diversity, and healthcare access including programmatic retreats, evaluation of
    curriculum, didactic coordination meetings, and engage with student affairs for student remediation.
  • Lead and/or
    participate in Didactic Team meetings, retreats, and other MEDEX events requiring travel as needed.
  • Review
    applications, participate in interviews, and engage in student selection and orientation.
  • Actively participate in
    program activities related to accreditation and compliance.
  • Complete other administrative and curricular duties as
    requested by the Program Director.
  • Attending all relevant MEDEX meetings and activities; travel as needed.

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent

* Completion of an accredited PA program

*
Eligible for PA licensure in the state of assigned campus

* Current NCCPA certification or equivalent and two years of clinical
experience
