Assistant Dean for Admissions
, in partnership with the national search firm , invites applications and nominations for the position of
Assistant Dean for Admissions. Albany Law School seeks a highly qualified and passionate experienced administrative officer
to serve in this vital role. The Assistant Dean for Admissions reports directly to the President & Dean of Albany Law School and works in
cooperation with the Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence and Enrollment Management. The Assistant Dean for Admissions is a member of the
leadership team and is responsible for the comprehensive, data-driven management and execution of the admissions processes and procedures
for all JD and residential LLM degree programs.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements a
comprehensive recruitment strategy and marketing plan to produce a strong applicant pool that will satisfy enrollment goals, in furtherance
of the Strategic Plan.- Communicates with the pre-law community, undergraduate partners,
prospective applicants, and other influencers and advisors. - Represents Albany Law School at regional and national recruitment
events. Represents Albany Law School at professional conferences to stay current on accreditation requirements and best practices in
admissions and financial aid. - Identifies new markets that generate prospective applicants and supports the development of
associated new programs. - Identifies, analyzes, and responds to outcomes and market trends that shape admissions processes.
- Counsels prospective students and applicants.
- Collaborates with the President & Dean and the Vice President for Finance and
Business to develop a strategy for allocating scholarship resources equitably and effectively. Assigns and communicates scholarship awards
to admitted students. - Works with the Communications Department to produce and distribute recruitment materials, digital content,
and campaigns. - Maintains relationships with alumni, faculty, and students to identify and maintain support for recruitment,
conversion, and retention activities. - Develops, coordinates, and facilitates recruitment and conversion events on- and
off-campus.
- Communicates with the pre-law community, undergraduate partners,
- Leads and manages the Admissions staff to include: hiring, training/developing, supervising, and
evaluating. - Coordinates and advises the Faculty Admissions Committee and Trustee Enrollment Management Committee, in consultation
with the President & Dean. - Prepares and presents regular reports and data analyses related to the status of the incoming class as
well as current national admissions trends to the President & Dean, Vice President for Finance and Business, Faculty, Trustees, Alumni, and
other stakeholders. - Prepares statistical reports for ABA and other accrediting bodies, NYS Department of Education, LSAC, third
parties and other affiliates. - Collaborates with the Director of Financial Aid to ensure compliance with federal and state
regulations and Law School policies. - Develops and implements application processing procedures with an emphasis on driving
enhancements in technology and data analytics.- Maintains application processing database and
CRM, coordinates the transmission of information to other institutional departments as necessary, and ensures that involved staff are
trained and able to utilize technology successfully to provide required data and analysis. - Evaluates applications and communicates
decisions. - Manages all standard Admissions communications such as admit letters, scholarship award notices, newsletters, event
invitations, etc.

- Develops and manages the Admissions budget through collaboration with the Vice President for Finance
and Business. - Coordinates with leadership and department heads to support the student onboarding experience, develops and
facilitates the enrollment process, and cooperates with other Law School leaders to host Orientation. - Performs other duties as
assigned by the President & Dean.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor鈥檚 degree.
- Minimum of
5 years of progressively responsible enrollment management experience. - Track record of success in achieving enrollment goals and
growing application volume. - Experience developing scholarship strategy in line with institutional enrollment goals.
- Valid
driver鈥檚 license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- JD or Master鈥檚
degree in higher ed administration, counseling, student personnel, or similar strongly preferred. - Experience managing graduate or
professional school programs preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge
of current technology and its application in enrollment management.- Demonstrated ability to
use Microsoft Office Suite products, databases, and performing internet-based research. - Familiarity with LSAC databases and popular
CRMs such as Slate.
- Demonstrated ability to
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with and interest in working
with diverse populations. High level of cultural awareness and sensitivity. - Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Sound judgement and discretionary abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a history of building collaborative relationships
with direct reports, alumni, faculty, students, and advisors. - Ability to lead others, build consensus, and sustain a team.
- Ability to travel, including multiple overnights and weekends, for training and recruitment events.
