What You'll Do and Who We Are Looking For

Job Location: Sylvania Campus - 12000 SW 49th Ave, Portland, OR 97219

Under direction of management, the Landscape Services and Grounds Manager directs and supervises the operational and personnel activities of the Facilities Management Services (FMS) district-wide Landscape Services and Grounds Department. Participates in the development, recommendations and administration of policies, procedures and processes in support of departmental & district operations and the design, review and planning of new construction projects. This position is responsible for overseeing landscape maintenance and construction, irrigation, disease and pest identification and the treatment of turf/plants/trees, stormwater management, pest control through Integrated Pest Management (IPM), geographic information systems (GIS), equipment maintenance and procurement, snow and ice removal, inclement weather clean-up, budget preparation, as well as staff management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Landscape Technology of Horticultural Science plus 5 years related experience in landscape maintenance, Integrated Pest Management, stormwater management and pest control. Education and/or experience may substitute year-for-year for specific degree requirements. Three years managing or supervising a crew of landscape technicians is also required.

Must have an Oregon Department of Agriculture Public Pesticide Applicators License (please indicate that you have this license in your resume or cover letter):
* Herbicides, including for the use of pesticides in the establishment and maintenance of ornamental plants and turf, including vertebrate pest control.
* Insecticides/fungicides, including for the use of insecticides and fungicides in the establishment and maintenance or ornamental plants and turf.

Must have a valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Oregon and possess an acceptable driving record.

Ability to obtain a Oregon Department of Agriculture Industrial, Institution, Health and Structural (I.I.H.S.) General use license for building pest control within three months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position. Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.
* Demonstrated experience managing district-wide or multi-site landscape operations, including oversight of diverse campus environments, infrastructure, and maintenance standards.
* Experience with stormwater management systems, including inspection and maintenance of bioswales, catch basins, and drainage infrastructure, with working knowledge of applicable DEQ and local
jurisdictional requirements.
* Experience supervising and developing staff in a unionized
or public-sector environment, including performance management, training, scheduling, and adherence to collective bargaining agreements.
* Knowledge of and commitment to sustainable
landscape practices, including water conservation, soil health management, and environmentally responsible pest control methods.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate emergency
response operations, including snow and ice removal, inclement weather response, and campus safety decision-making.
* Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with administrators, stakeholders,
contractors, and regulatory agencies.

How We Determine Initial Salary Placement

Minimum $85,646 to range midpoint of $104,917. Placement will generally not exceed the mid,-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
