This position assists in the monitoring and treatment for all patients admitted in the hospital.
This is an overnight shift rotating monthly between weekends and weekdays.
Monday - Thursday 10:00PM - 8:00AM, Friday -Sunday 7:00PM - 8:00AM.
This position involves direct contact with animals susceptible to rabies. Employees in this role must complete a rabies pre-exposure vaccination series and maintain adequate rabies antibody titer (>=0.5 IU/mL) as recommended by CDC guidelines.
Auburn University will cover the cost of the rabies vaccination series, periodic titer checks, and any necessary boosters.

Responsibilities
Depending upon a combination of education and experience, the finalist selected for this position will be hired as a Veterinary Technician - Inpatient and assigned levels I, II, or III.
Level I: Requires an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain certification.
Level II: Requires an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain certification plus 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.
Level III: Requires an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field that qualifies an individual to obtain certification plus 4 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment.
Substitutions Allowed for Experience:
Degrees may be accepted in lieu of experience.
License and Certifications:
Continuing

Responsibilities
- Assists with administering treatments and monitoring patients admitted in IMC or ICU, Observes and records vital data, abnormal signs, body weight, food/water intake of animals, and collects and labels specimens and perform treatments and administer medications as prescribed by primary veterinarian.
- Performs and demonstrates veterinary care techniques and procedures related to emergency and critical care medicine.
- Assists veterinarians in the care of patients requiring advanced procedures and life-saving techniques including CPR, mechanical ventilation and dialysis.
- Inspects facilities, equipment, and supplies daily, as well as observes health status of animals , environmental conditions , temperature , and sanitation.
- Perform job duties with speed and accuracy and work as essential personnel, providing care for patients after hours, on weekends and holidays.
- Assists with emergency triage and stabilization of patients presenting through the Emergency service
- May be responsible for, or assist in, billing clients, inputting charges, and/or similar tasks

- Active license with the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Technician, OR
