This position supports the enrollment goals for the College of Law. Assists in planning, organizing, and executing the College of Law's recruitment and admissions programming. Job Description
Position Summary: The Admissions and Financial Aid Counselor is a student-facing professional responsible for guiding prospective and admitted students through both the admissions process and the financial aid process. This position supports the enrollment goals for the College of Law. Assists in planning, organizing, and executing the College of Law's recruitment and admissions programming. Provides admissions counseling to prospective and admitted students. Provides financial aid counseling to new and continuing students.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
- Admissions Responsibilities
- Promote the visibility of the College of Law. Engage with prospective students to increase awareness and interest in the College of Law.
- Meet with and counsel prospective and admitted students, virtually and in-person, regarding the application process (new and transfer), matriculation steps, and scholarships. Assist with yield and retention efforts.
- Represent Stetson at local/regional college fairs and recruitment events, online webinars and panels.
- Develop and implement outreach strategy to engage undergraduate feeder schools and direct admission partners.
- Assist in coordinating diversity pipeline programs; events and activities that promote recruitment of ethnically and culturally diverse students and first-generation students.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with Pre-Law advisors, both regionally and nationally at targeted institutions.
- Assist with special event planning (e.g. Open Houses, information sessions, small group visits).
- Assist with creating email content for HubSpot. Assist in maintaining Admissions webpages and social media content.
- Financial Aid Responsibilities
- Serve as primary financial aid counselor for new incoming students regarding general financial aid inquiries including the federal aid application process, requirements for eligibility, the process for change in financial circumstances, rights and responsibilities regarding student aid, academic progress requirements and procedures for appealing, and other information related to maintaining student scholarships and loans.
- Provide financial aid counseling support for continuing students as needed.
- Conduct financial aid presentations to new and continuing students.
- Assist with endowed scholarship project and other financial aid projects as assigned by the Assistant Dean.
- General Responsibilities
- Assist in providing campus tours for individual campus visitors, small and large groups as needed.
- Maintain a collaborative work environment and work well with others.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Lifting occasionally up to 25 lbs.

- General knowledge of law school admissions
- Knowledge of U.S. Department of Education Federal Aid Programs
- Experience using Federal Student Aid (FSA) platform
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), SharePoint, Banner, Unite, HubSpot or similar CRM.
- Support the University's Mission and Values in their role.
- Bachelor's Degree required; master's preferred
- Experience working in higher education, preferably in areas of admissions and financial aid
- Experience effectively counseling culturally diverse as well as first-generation populations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours
- Position requires occasional travel
